Still not too sure on young Frederick's surname. John Rook could possibly be Susannah's brother Walter John (1849) who seems to disappear, or as I now think, simply he drops the 'Walter' in favour of his middle name.

Looking for some pictures of Ivy Lane, Northgate, Canterbury; but....
Below is a picture of Canterbury Cathedral
after the Blitz of 1942, didn't realise a town I only live 5 miles from suffered so badly during the 2nd World War. So many ancient buildings must have been lost, let alone lives. I vaguely remember Dad saying that one of his brothers or sisters was actually in the cinema at the time of one of the raids.
They had hoped to bomb the cathedral, but missed :)
